It's like child star natural selection.

The weak get weeded out and dealt with. I love it.

I still would though.

I still watch the new version of The Parent Trap. I don't know why. I just like it.

I keep worrying my annoyance with Lohan now will skew my take on her in that movie. Shockingly, it hasn't yet.

But maybe when she goes to jail it will.

this is pretty funny. i can imagine the writers at talk shows thanking the gods when stuff like this happens. every paragraph is filled with monologue fodder:

bizarre car chase

hilarious.

Quote from: MacGuffin on July 24, 2007, 10:44:24 AM
Lohan was behind the wheel of a car that did not belong to her, chasing a car driven by the mother of a personal assistant.

explanation just raises further questions.

Quote from: MacGuffin on July 24, 2007, 10:44:24 AM
The mother managed to escape ... she called police and told them about the chase. Padilla said the unnamed mother of the assistant believed she was in danger during the chase.

can you imagine the phone call? "I'M BEING CHASED BY LOHAN!" this could be a catchphrase.
alternatives:
-Lindsay Lohan's trying to run me down!
-Lohan's Duellin' Again!

Police pulled Lohan over and gave her two breathalyzer tests, registering over the legal limit of .08 on both occasions — a .12 and a .13.

the way they've written it, it appears that her alcohol level increased in the second reading. what, did she take a swig after the first? "oh i can do better than that!"

and so on.

My friend actually called me at work to tell me about Lindsay. We talked as if she was our best friend, "I CAN'T believe she did it again!!! COCAINE???!! and I thought she looked GOOD!!...what did her mug shot look like?" Tonight I told her, "while we were talking, there was a guy right behind me fixing the expresso machine...he must have thought I was friends with someone on crack"

Lindsay Lohan: 'I Am Innocent'

Lindsay Lohan is proclaiming her innocence after being arrested yesterday for investigation of driving under the influence and felony cocaine possession. "I am innocent... did not do drugs they're not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin's mom I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy," Lohan wrote in an e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush, the show reported on its Web site Tuesday night.

Lohan, 21, was arrested early Tuesday in Santa Monica and released on bail.

Police found cocaine in one of the actress' pockets during a pre-booking search, Sgt. Shane Talbot said. Police initially said Lohan was also being booked for investigation of transporting a narcotic but later said she was not.

Police received a 911 call from the mother of Lohan's former personal assistant, saying that Lohan was chasing her in an SUV, said Lt. Alex Padilla. The assistant had quit hours before, he said.

Authorities found Lohan and the woman in a "heated debate" in the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Auditorium at about 1:30 a.m.

Lohan's arrest comes as she still faces DUI allegations connected to a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash in Beverly Hills. The actress completed more than six weeks in rehab less than two weeks ago, and had checked into a recovery clinic in January.

Lohan had worn an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet since her July 13 release from rehab and was tested daily to support her sobriety, her attorney Blair Berk said. She said Lohan had relapsed and was receiving medical care at an undisclosed location. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, had no comment.

She joins a long list of young actors who battled problems with drugs, alcohol, or both. They include River Phoenix, Drew Barrymore, Corey Feldman, Anissa Jones, Danny Bonaduce and Macaulay Culkin.

Phoenix, who starred in "Stand By Me" as a teen, died outside a Hollywood nightclub in 1993 from a lethal combination of cocaine and heroin. He was 23. Feldman, his "Stand By Me" co-star, also battled addiction and was arrested for heroin possession when he was 19.

Jones, who played Buffy on TV's "Family Affair," was just 18 when she died of a drug overdose in 1976. Bonaduce found fame at 10 as a star of "The Partridge Family," only to struggle with addiction and homelessness as a teenager. Culkin, best known for his starring turn in the kid-friendly "Home Alone" films, was busted in his early 20s for possession of pot and Xanax.

Barrymore, 32, has fared best. After going to rehab for drugs and alcohol at 13, she is a sought-after actress and filmmaker with her own production company, Flower Films.

Dr. David Deitch, an addiction specialist for more than 40 years and director of Phoenix House, a national nonprofit provider of substance-abuse treatments, said the glitter and glamor of Hollywood could be partly to blame.

"That life is all about the excitement, drama and peak performance followed by a letdown that gets medicated with entertainment and medication," he said.

Deitch said the average age at which children start using drugs has dropped every decade since the 1960s, and that today's youngsters start experimenting with drugs about age 12.

"The earlier the age of onset of chronic drug-taking, the greater the prognosis is for long-term problems," he said.

The actress was chastised last summer for repeatedly arriving late to the set of "Georgia Rule," and her latest legal troubles may cost her movie roles. She was set to start shooting "Poor Things," a comedy featuring Shirley MacLaine, when she entered rehab in May. The film's producers, who previously had supported Lohan, would not say Tuesday whether she would be part of the production.

Lohan is still set to appear in the film "Dare to Love Me," which is to begin shooting this summer, said Michael Sands, a consultant for production company Bowline Entertainment.

"The producers have compassion and kindness for her, so for now she's insured and still with the movie," he said. "She hasn't been convicted of any crimes."

All Hollywood productions need insurance, and troublesome or troubled actors can often stand in the way of that requirement.

"I don't see how she's employable for the next 18 months," Levine said. "Who's going to insure her?"

Lohan's latest film, "I Know Who Killed Me," is set to open Friday.

Seagal says FBI probe ruined career

Steven Seagal, whose action movies once were major box-office attractions, believes false allegations by FBI agents ruined his career, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.

The comments in the Times are the first Seagal has made publicly about an investigation begun some five years ago by the FBI into accusations he intimidated a reporter and had ties to organized crime.

The Times said Seagal is demanding an apology from the FBI. A spokesman for the actor was not immediately available on Friday.

"False FBI accusations fueled thousands of articles saying that I terrorize journalists and associate with the Mafia," Seagal told the newspaper. "These kinds of inflammatory allegations scare studio heads and independent producers -- and kill careers."

Seagal, 56, was once a major star of action movies such as 1992's "Under Siege," which earned $156 million at worldwide box offices, but now he makes straight-to-DVD releases such as "Flight of Fury and "Attack Force."

The FBI investigation stemmed from Seagal's ties to former private detective Anthony Pellicano, who once was employed by many Hollywood stars, directors and producers, but is now in federal prison awaiting trial on wire-tapping and other charges.

The Pellicano investigation dates to 2002 when a free-lance reporter for the Los Angeles Times found a dead fish, a red rose and a note saying "Stop!" on her car. At the time, the reporter was researching Seagal and a former business partner.

Seagal told the Times that he and Pellicano had not been on speaking terms since the 1990s and the Times' story said his lawyers told FBI agents that by 2002, Seagal and Pellicano had become rivals in a bitter legal dispute.

The actor said in October 2004, an FBI official told him that federal agents knew he had nothing to do with the Pellicano investigation. Still, Seagal claims they have not publicly exonerated him.

An FBI spokeswoman declined to comment "because of the ongoing nature of the investigation" and referred calls to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney noted Seagal has never been charged or accused of being involved in the incident that eventually led to Pellicano's arrest. The spokesman added that the office does not comment on talks it has with attorneys representing defendants, investigation targets or witnesses.

I'm glad someone ruined his career.

Why? What has his dismissal from popular movies changed about the culture of Hollywood? Unless you know him and have a good beef with him, it's just a rude and stupid comment.

Murray refuses breath test in Sweden

Bill Murray could face a drunken driving charge after cruising through downtown Stockholm in a golf cart and refusing to take a breath test, citing U.S. law.

Police officers spotted the 56-year-old actor-comedian early Sunday in the slow-moving vehicle and noticed he smelled of alcohol when they pulled him over, said Detective-Inspector Christer Holmlund of the Stockholm police.

"He refused to blow in the (breath test) instrument, citing American legislation," Holmlund told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "So we applied the old method — a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are in."

Murray, who had been at a golf tournament in Sweden, signed a document admitting that he was driving under the influence, and agreed to let a police officer plead guilty for him if the case goes to court, Holmlund said.

"Then he was let go. My guess is he went back to America," Holmlund said.

He said Murray would only be charged if tests show his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, which is quite low in Sweden.

A very high alcohol level could lead to a prison sentence, but Holmlund said fines were more likely.

"There were no obvious signs, like when someone is really tipsy," he said.

Holmlund said it wasn't clear where Murray picked up the vehicle, or to whom it belonged.

"It was a golf cart. How it ended up in this predicament I don't know," he said, adding that Murray wasn't facing any theft charges.

It isn't illegal to drive a golf cart in city traffic in Sweden, but Holmlund said it is very unusual.

"I have done this since '68 and I've never experienced anything like this," he said.

Murray was among the cast members on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." He was nominated for an Oscar for 2003's "Lost in Translation." His screen credits also include the 1980 golfing comedy, "Caddyshack"; "Groundhog Day"; and "Rushmore."

Murrays been pulling a Lohan for the last 5 years, but nobody gives a shit cause he's an old ass man.

On another forum I visit called Sherdog (an MMA website) theres a HUGE OT forum, and one of the posters there posted a video from his cell phone of Murray drunk off his ass telling him and his friends he was going to kick their ass. It was about 2 minutes long, and by the end, they were all best friends. These guys were like Mexican thugs, so it wasn't like they should have even been at the same bar in the first place. Bill is awesome.

Filmmaker Involved in Fatal Car Accident

Oscar-nominated director John Singleton was driving a Lexus SUV when it struck and killed a jaywalker who stepped in front of the car, police said Friday.

Singleton, 39, immediately stopped his car and waited for police to arrive after the accident Thursday night in the city's Jefferson Park neighborhood, said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman.

"Mr. Singleton stopped and identified himself as required by law and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol," Lee said. "He was questioned and released."

The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead Friday morning, Lee said. She was identified as Constance Russell, 57, of Los Angeles.

Other details were not immediately released, and an after-hours call to Singleton's agent was not immediately returned.

Singleton, whose debut film, 1991's "Boyz N The Hood," earned him two Oscar nominations, has also directed "Poetic Justice," "Shaft," and "2 Fast 2 Furious." He was the producer of "Hustle & Flow," "Black Snake Moan" and the just-released "Illegal Tender."
