Quote from: Pubrick on August 25, 2007, 05:02:15 AMwasn't matthew broderick involved in this kind of thing once and then go into a long brain-breaking guilt trip?

imdb.com:

In 1985 he was involved in a controversial car crash while driving in Ireland with his then fiancé Jennifer Grey. The crash killed a woman and her daughter. Although Broderick was cleared of all charges, he paid a small fine to the family of the victims. He broke his leg in the accident, which happened just as Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), his biggest hit, was coming out in the US.

Filmmaker Involved in Fatal Car Accident

Oscar-nominated director John Singleton was driving a Lexus SUV when it struck and killed a jaywalker pedestrian who stepped in front of the car was crossing the street, police said Friday.
look how carefully worded this is.  the first thing i thought when i read the headline was that the filmmaker had been killed.  and if the description had been worded slightly differently it would appear to be a completely different story.  i mean, c'mon, who hasn't crossed the street when they didn't have the little "walk" guy?
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Vanessa Hudgens Naked Pictures Coming Soon

Since when did High School become so scandalous? Word on the block is that Vanessa Hudgens of "High School Musical" is pretty nervous because there might be pics of her naked surfacing on the net soon. Hudgens is dating her co-star Zac Efron and apparently she took pics of herself naked for her man but somehow some other peeps have the pics as well.

"Vanessa's only 18, so she had no idea how her flirtatious act could threaten the future of the multimillion-dollar plans Disney has for the show," a source told the National Enquirer. "She just wanted to keep Zac interested."

If there are such pics, there can be trouble for Disney and Hudgens. "High School Musical" is a kid's show and seeing one of the stars naked might ruin everything.

"It's a kids' show, aimed a children, teenagers and their parents and starring a bunch of cute, wholesome youngsters," said a show insider. "Naked pictures of one of the stars would be catastrophic. "It could bring the whole 'High School Musical' franchise to its knees."

Murray Explains Golf Cart Incident

Bill Murray says he was just dropping people after a party when he was stopped in downtown Stockholm driving a golf cart.

The police "asked me to come over and they assumed that I was drunk and I explained to them that I was a golfer," Murray told reporters Monday at the Venice Film Festival, where he appeared before the premiere of his new film "The Darjeeling Limited," which also stars Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson.

The star of 1980's "Caddyshack" said he was in Stockholm last month to play in a pro-am golf tournament, and hitched a ride to a post-event party in a golf cart. When no one wanted to drive home, he volunteered.

"I ended up stopping and dropping people off on the way like a bus. I had about six people in the thing and I dropped them off one at a time.

He said police called him over as he was dropping the last couple off at a 7-Eleven, adding "I didn't know they had 7-Elevens in Stockholm."

Swedish police took a blood test after the actor refused a breath test. He could face drunken driving charges.

It's not illegal to drive a golf cart through downtown Stockholm, just unsual.

the swedish police is a joke. they can't do anything about illegal streetrace at public roads at the middle of the day. but they can stop a comedian driving a golf cart because it's "unusual".

Jude Law arrested for alleged attack

Police arrested Jude Law for allegedly attacking a photographer outside his London home, British media reported Wednesday.

The 34-year-old actor allegedly tried to grab the photographer's camera during the incident on Tuesday, Britain's Press Association said. He was released on bail and must return to a London police station in October.

Law's publicist was not immediately available for comment.

Police would not directly confirm the report, but said a 34-year-old man from Law's neighborhood was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm. Police added the man voluntarily went to a police station for questioning.

Law recently returned from the Venice Film Festival where he was promoting the remake of the movie "Sleuth," in which he co-stars with Michael Caine.

Simpson named suspect in casino break-in

Investigators questioned O.J. Simpson and named him a suspect Friday in a break-in at a casino hotel room involving sports memorabilia.

The break-in was reported at the Palace Station casino late Thursday night, police spokesman Jose Montoya said. He said investigators determined the break-in involved sports collectibles.

"When they talked to him, Simpson made the comment that he believed the memorabilia was his," Montoya said. "We're getting conflicting stories from the two sides."

Simpson was released after he and several associates were questioned, but he is considered a suspect in the case, Montoya said. He is believed to be in Las Vegas.

"We don't believe he's going anywhere," he said.

The Heisman Trophy winner, ex-NFL star and actor lives near Miami and has been a tabloid staple since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman were killed in 1994. Simpson was acquitted of murder charges, but a jury later held him liable for the killings in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Simpson has had to auction off his sports collectibles, including his Heisman Trophy, to pay some of the $33.5 million judgment awarded to the Goldman family.

On Thursday, the Goldman family published a book about the killings that Simpson had written under the title, "If I Did It." After a deal for Simpson to publish it fell through, the family bought the rights and retitled the book "If I Did It: The Confessions of a Killer."

Investigators in the casino case planned to give their report to prosecutors Friday, Montoya said. The district attorney's office will decide whether to pursue charges.

Simpson had been scheduled to give a deposition Friday in Miami in a bankruptcy case involving his eldest daughter. But it was rescheduled because Simpson had told attorneys that he would be out of town.

Patricia Jones, a woman at the Florida office of Simpson attorney Yale L. Galanter who identified herself as Galanter's associate, said Galanter was out of town and had been forwarded messages seeking comment.

The Palace Station, an aging property just west of the Las Vegas Strip, is one of several Station Casinos-owned resorts that cater to locals. The 1,000-room hotel-casino, with a 21-story tower and adjacent buildings, opened in 1976.

A company spokeswoman did not immediately return a call for comment.

Rap star 'impersonated policeman'

US rapper The Game has appeared in court after being charged with impersonating a police officer.

Police said the star told a cab driver he was an undercover officer in 2006, ordering him to run several red lights.

The hip-hop artist, real name Jayceon Taylor, insisted he was innocent. He has been given a conditional discharge at Manhattan's Criminal Court.

That means if the star is not arrested again within six months, the charge will be dismissed and the case closed.

The Game rejected offers of a plea deal that would have kept him out of jail in exchange for a guilty plea.

The rapper, who has a large "LA" tattooed on the right side of his face and a teardrop under his left eye, claimed the cab driver noticed they were being followed and asked who was in the car.

He said he told the driver they were the hip-hop police, and the driver decided on his own to run the red lights.

The rapper's lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said it was unlikely a cab driver, seeing his client's tattoos, would have thought he was a policeman.

Speaking afterwards, The Game said: "I love New York, but I hate the system. But I hate every system."

Once a protege of rapper 50 Cent, he shot to stardom with his Grammy-nominated debut album The Documentary in 2005.

He currently still faces three felony charges in California for a February incident in which he is accused of pulling a gun during a basketball game in Los Angeles.

If convicted of those charges, he faces up to five years in jail.

George Clooney Hurt in Motorcycle Crash

George Clooney and a companion were injured on Friday when their motorcycle collided with a car on a narrow road across the Hudson River from New York City.

Clooney suffered a broken rib and scrapes while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot in the 3:30 p.m. collision. The two were treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen and released, Clooney's spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, said.

"He's doing fine," Rosenfield said. "He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal."

Clooney and Larson were traveling north and sped up to pass on the right of a 1999 Mazda Millenia that was preparing to make a right turn, said Weehawken police Sgt. Sean Kelly. Both were wearing helmets.

It wasn't known whether the Mazda's driver, whose identity was not immediately released, used a turn signal, Kelly said. The accident was under investigation.

"It's a he-said, she-said right now, but you can't pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey," Kelly said.

Rosenfield said the accident occurred when the vehicle signaled a left-hand turn, but turned right and struck Clooney's motorcycle.

"The car signaled left. George was riding to the right. The driver decided to make an abrupt right turn and clipped George," he said.

The 46-year-old actor was in the New York area to film the dark comedy "Burn After Reading," co-starring Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

Clooney's recovery shouldn't interrupt the production's schedule, Rosenfield said.

Clooney's latest film, "Michael Clayton," will be released next month. He and Larson have been spotted together at several film festivals and movie premieres in recent weeks.

Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early today on misdemeanor drunk driving charges after failing a field sobriety test, a police officials said.

Sutherland, 40, tested over the state's legal blood alcohol limit of .08 percent and was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, Officer Karen Smith said.

He was released around 4 a.m. after posting $25,000 bail, according to Sheriff's Department records, and was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 16, said Maiberger.

Sutherland won a best actor Emmy award last year for his performance on the Fox TV series "24." The series is set to return to the air in January.

For Mac's pleasure:

Rodriguez Will Serve Jail Time After Movie Shoot
Source: IMDB

Michelle Rodriguez will start her six month jail sentence on Christmas Eve - after she has finished work on her new movie. The Lost star was handed the jail sentence after admitting violating her probation for driving under the influence. She was told December 24 was the latest date she could hand herself in at a Los Angeles County jail - and a message on her MySpace page reveals she will do just that, after she had jetted to New Zealand to shooting a new film alongside Sigourney Weaver. The message reads, "Michelle will still be leaving for New Zealand to film James Cameron's Avatar and will then report back to turn herself in to serve her sentence on Christmas Eve. Michelle is a survivor and is always growing from her experiences, and this will be no different. Nothing will bring her down, especially not something like this."
