Title: (Wes Anderson) Favourite line from a Wes film?
Post by: Spike on October 09, 2003, 02:43:16 PM
What are your favourite quotes from Wes' films?

- "Man, I blew it, I blew it, man!"
- "Sometimes I'm not as confident as I seem to be."
- "How long have you been smoking?" - "22 years." - "Well, you should quit."
- "Don't fuck with my play!"
- "They'll never catch me... 'cause I'm fucking innocent."
- "I don't know, man, I lose my touch, man." - "Did you ever have a touch to lose, man?"
- "Well, I think there's a real air of mystery about me."
- "Hey, you're in the Army, yes?" - "No, I just have short hair."
- "You're complicated." - "I try not to be."
- "Why are you here right now? You're always at lunch at this time!" - "Not always." - "Yes, always!"
- "Did I hit the dog?" - "Yeah." - "Is he dead?" - "Yeah."
- "Hell of a damn grave. Wish it were mine."
- "That was the last time you put a knife in me, hear me?!"
- "That car has a dent in it."

Rushmore:

When Bill Murray tells the kids to "Scatter!"

"I would've shot you in the other ear, but it got blown off a long time ago."

"I'm an alternate"

"Fisher, ya fuck!"

"One dead fingernail"

"So, this is where it all happens"  "What happens?"  "I wouldn't know"

"Well you can stick it up your motha's ass ya lil' prick!"

Royal Tenenbaums:

"Wildcats...pow! (that noise he makes)

"I know you asshole!"

"Stop belittling me"

Bottle Rocket:

"Why do you have that tape on your nose?"  "Exactly!"

"He looks like a little banana"

I'm sure there are some more, but I can't think of any right now

The level of funny in that line goes so far beyond Royal Tenenbaums, that it might be a good contender for the funniest line ever. In fact, I'm surpriced nobody mentioned it in the funniest movie moments thread, which I'll see to right away.

with a BIT of

**** SPOILER WARNING *****

let us begin our quotes again.

my favorite was when the train was lost, Brendan said something like "We can't seem to find ourselves"
and Francis makes him repeat it, in the way that Dignan made Bob repeat what he had "just said"

and then Francis says "We Can't Seem To Find Ourselves!"
and sees it as a metaphor for their journey

just so damn funny...in a way, the spritituality seen as a Novelty thru the Whitman's eyes reminded me a bit of 'Dogma' believe it or not

but anyways, there are a few more lines I was extra chuckly about...I'll let you guys start them up

**** END SPOILERS!!! ****

All Owen Wilson:
"Did I raise us, kind of?"
"Airport Italiano?! What the fuck is this?"
"Did you just fuck that Indian girl?"
"And Rubby's having a child!"

I also love the whole, "Peter, if I remember correctly, you don't mind climing ladders, so you'll be up here. And, Jack, you've always been kind of a lone wolf, so you'll be on that bed, over there."

Most of Owen Wilson's lines in this reminded me so much of Dignan. It was really cool to get that vibe from him again.
