I am absolutely perplexed as to why Marlon hasn't gotten any decent roles lately.  Marlon's performance in Requiem was absolutely amazing.  And Hollywood has a habit of jumping on the ex-comedien-who-proved-he-can-act bandwagon (john lequizamo, jim carey, etc.).  So why hasn't anybody given Marlon the same opportunities.  Perhaps the problem is simply that there just aren't enough roles for twenty-something black actors.

Marlon's part in Requiem is like the best breakout performance that led to nothing.  Oh, I forgot, Scary Movie 2.  This is why I hate Hollywood.

I believe this post is in the wrong place, but thats not my job....

I thought he was incredible in Requiem and after seeing it I was excited for all the projects he might do next. Great potential. I learned that Aronofsky didnt go after him, Marlon went after Requiem by himself and it showed he was really commited and wanted to do something different. He has great potential and I hope he gets to it soon.

Jeremy Blackman

Marlon Wayans needs to lock Daman Wayans in a closet and keep doing Requiem-ish movies.

At wave level, everything exists as a contradiction. Everything is existing in more than one stage/place at any given moment. Everything must move/vibrate and constantly change to exist. Everything, including buildings, mountains, oceans and thoughts.

Wasnt it just in Idle Chatter or Everything Else Cinema?

I enjoy watching him scream 'Oh shit, son!' in a high-pitched voice etc in the 'Scary Movie's but I too wish that he'd seek further dramatic roles, especially after his incredible performance in 'Requiem'. He was stunning as the once joyous Tyrone in the movies first act (with a ever growing smile on his face) and then transformed into the ultimate picture of dread & despair later on. Apparently, at the moment he's doing nothing (even turned down the next 'Scary Movie').

As for comedians doing the dramatic gig, Damon Wayans tried it in 'Bamboozled' (which got pretty luke-warm responses), Carrey has said that he wants to do go from doing comedies to dramas continuously, I've already bitched about Sandler not continuing any time soon (as he's lining up his next 3 movies, all comedies), Stiller has before, Myers hasn't yet, neither has Murphy, but man, I love it when they do.

He was the best part of this Boogie Nights rip-off as Steve Rubell.

Oh yeah. My bad (He really was the best thing about that flick).

And yes, that flick really wanted to be 'Boogie Nights'.

Marlon Wayans Aboard Touchstone's Ladykillers

Marlon Wayans is set to appear opposite Tom Hanks in the Coen brothers-directed remake of Ladykillers for Touchstone Pictures, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

A remake of the 1955 comedy starring Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, the film centers on an eccentric Southern professor (Hanks) who puts together a gang of double-crossing thieves to rob a riverboat casino. They rent a room in an old woman's house, but when she discovers the scheme, somebody has to kill her. The landlady proves tough to dispatch, however. Wayans will play one of the thieves.

Ladykillers was written by Joel and Ethan Coen and is being produced by Tom Jacobson, Barry Sonnenfeld, Barry Josephson and Ethan Coen.

Wayanses revive 'Munsters' at Uni

"The Munsters" are coming to the big screen courtesy of the Wayans brothers.

Keenen Ivory, Marlon and Shawn Wayans have struck a deal with Universal Pictures to take the 1960s television show about a family of friendly monsters who never quite get why people react in terror to them and give it a 21st century makeover.

The deal calls for the three Wayanses to write the screenplay as well as produce along with Rick Alvarez through Wayans Bros. Prods. There is a possibility that Keenen Ivory Wayans would direct, though no deal is in the works without a finished script.

"The Munsters" aired on CBS from 1964-66. The Wayans version will stay true to the original characters, but will place them in a contemporary setting.

Sources said the Wayans came up with the idea to develop a "Munsters" redo while in Canada filming their recently released collaboration "White Chicks." Coincidentally, the studio also had been tossing around ideas for an update on their "Munsters" property, so the brothers polished their take and took it to the studio to pitch it to vice chairman of worldwide production Mary Parent and senior vp production Holly Bario.

Although specific dollar figures were not disclosed, sources described it as a very lucrative deal for the Wayanses. The deal marks the first time the brothers have taken on a screen adaptation, since their previous efforts have based on original ideas. Shawn and Marlon teamed to write "Scary Movie," "Scary Movie 2" and "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood." They teamed with Keenen Ivory to pen "Chicks."
