The new Radiohead album has leaked and you can find it here (http://www.idioteque.it/multimedia/audio.htm). You should also be able to find it on Kazaa later, there's already a few up.

EDIT - now kiss my feet

This is totally screwed up! You all should wait for the album to be released, by downloading it you're just stealing it. How can you really call yourselves Radiohead fans if you do that?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to download it.

Screw it. I'm going to download it. I'll still buy the album though.

Just to recap, Dirk posted this link (http://www.idioteque.it/multimedia/audio.htm), where only the first few tracks are working. Then he posted this link (http://coldplay.artscience.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39432&perpage=30&pagenumber=1), where all the tracks were working, but it was slower. But the second link has since disappeared. I tried to resurrect its mp3s. It wasn't easy.

http://artists.iuma.com/st/jasmine_ztar/audio/jasmine_ztar_-_A_PunchUp_at_a_Wedding.mp3

http://artists.iuma.com/st/jasmine_ztar/audio/jasmine_ztar_-_Wolf_at_the_Door.mp3

http://artists.iuma.com/st/jasmine_ztar/audio/jasmine_ztar_-_Myxomatosis.mp3

Those were the tough ones. Just try to fill in the names for the rest.

And check out the source:

http://www.iuma.com/st/jasmine_ztar/index-3.html

Just to make sure... this is the right order, right?

2 + 2 = 5
Sit Down. Stand Up
Sail To The Moon
Backdrifts
Go To Sleep
Where I End And You Begin
We Suck Young Blood
The Gloaming
There There
I Will
A Punch-Up at a Wedding
Myxamatosis
Scatterbrain
A Wolf At The Door

I have all the tracks!!  :-D

Please excuse me while I quietly slip into a pre-listening meditation.

I plan on buying it too. This is just to whet my appetite for the next 2 1/2 months. As far as I know of, Radiohead do not seem to have a big problem with piracy. Kid A and Amnesiac both sold very well despite being on the net well before their releases.

All you anti-piracy freaks should at least read this

God this is a great album! Can't say if it's their best after just one listening, but it's grabbing me the first time more than any other Radiohead album. People (including Radiohead) have said it's a lot like The Bends, but I disagree. It has a lot of piano and guitar, some Bend-ish instrumentation, but it definitely most resembles Amnesiac. Most in the, umm, style of composition if nothing else. I think almost all of the album is experimental, and there are some especially mindblowing sounds in Myxomatosis and The Gloaning. It all feels very new. If Amnesiac was confusion, HTTT is revelation. Know what I mean? And it's kind of pissed off and defiant.

My favorites so far: Go to Sleep, We Suck Young Blood, There There, I Will. These are all masterpieces, these are really all classics. Is "Go to Sleep" a protest song though? There are some lyrics here (http://www.greenplastic.com/lyrics/), but not for all of the HTTT songs. Here's the best I could do with Go to Sleep:

Somethin' for the _?_ man
over my dead body
somethin' big is gonna happen
over my dead body

someone's son or someone's daughter
over my dead body
this is how you end up Sultan
over my dead body

(incomprehensible stuff)

we don't want the monster takin' over
tip-toe in and tie 'em down
we don't want the loonies takin' over
tip-toe in and tie 'em down

(same incomprehensible stuff x2)

Myxomatosis has some lyrics taken straight from Cuttooth.  :)

Also... Sit Down, Stand Up seems like a war song...

Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up

Walk into the jaws of hell
Walk into the jaws of hell

Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up

We can anytime (?)
We can wipe you out

Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up

The rain drops (repeated)

The "rain drops" part sounds literally like a rain of death...

I think Pubrick's review of the live "There There" sums up the album pretty well.

Quote from: Pit feeeeeeels like,, it's hard to GT-ize it,. _|_ . feels like the future is as close as the past. in a beautiful place where time and space end. then,. its.. up to u how u feel about that.

The only one I have so far is We Suck Young Blood. Sounds great, but I'll bet it's even better in the context of the whole album. I need DSL! Or maybe I'll just do the right thing and wait, damn it.

I remember the first time I heard Optimistic on the radio back in '00, after three years of no new Radiohead. It was like the most incredible thing I'd ever heard, EVER.  I don't know if anything here will be able to top that experience (even though I don't think that's the best song on that album).

Quotes from Jonny on the message board:

Colin called and said it was up, so thought I'd check I feel bemused, though, not annoyed....I'm glad people like it, most of all. It's a *little* earlier than we'd expected, but there it is. There there it is ! hahahahaha (..) Surprised, and still not used to it happening, even after all these years..... I worry more that stuff we do *won't* get released for whatever obscure reason, and I hate the 3 month gap between finish and release. But not enough to leak it myself !

Heard it, have we? (..) Well Hail is no insult, really...We just like the contradictory phrases like 2+2=5 and Hail to the Thief and all that. We're not angry really....shame it's not a package with the artwork and all, but there you go.

I feel like I'm fishing for praise here...glad you like it. I hope the title makes sense now you've heard the music. I'd better go. Love to all thieves amongst you, see you on tour (more dates coming, oh yes, even maybe in HOMER's new home.....)

This is from greenplastic.com ...

An editor for CMJ magazine posted on the the CMJ Bulletin Boards that he had just received a mastered copy of Hail to the Thief and when he compared it to the leaked mp3s, said this: "oh guys also, i just downloaded the version that's on the net. chicagomike is right, that's not mastered. don't judge the record by that; those are different, unmastered mixes from what appears on the final version of the record. the record sounds a LOT better than that. guess studio security ain't quite what it should be these days."

also

Jonny was asked if he knew if these were mastered tracks: "Don't know yet - I've only downloaded I Will and it's hard to tell. I guess we'll find out today. Well it sounds OK on my iBook speakers... Haven't tried it on headphones... Are there any cross fades?"

What do you think?

Quote from: tremoloslothAre there any cross fades?"

There are cross fades, but I'm not sure about "I Will". I could see it not being the mastered version, but it still sounds pretty good.

And I'm sure the studio appreciates Radiohead's shrugging attitude about this whole thing...

Post by: Pubrick on March 31, 2003, 07:40:43 PM
yeah i'm pretty sure Punch Up At A Wedding has to be unmastered, i mean, come on! u'd think they were making it in their basement. same with a few others.

other than that, best tracks: The Gloaming, Myxomatosis.. and Wolf At the Door.
Title: Hail to the Thief leaked
Post by: Jeremy Blackman on March 31, 2003, 08:09:59 PM
Yeah, I guess it's probably unmastered... the end of every song is kind of technically messy (the fade outs), with way too much silence. And it sounds like Punch-Up is supposed to link to Myxamatosis, which doesn't really happen.

I'm getting more attached to Myxomatosis & Sit Down. Stand Up.
Title: Hail to the Thief leaked

My problem with describing what I feel about each song is that once I start track one, I just get sucked in and completely ignore what song/track I'm listening to and just go with it.

A lot of people make fun of the way Thom Yorke shakes around on stage, but when listening to songs like sit down stand up, I couldn't image phyiscally reacting any other way.

I'm glad to hear that the studio version will probably be at least slightly different... makes me feel less like a complete thief.

can definatly hear some OK Computer here, still not hearing the Bends much though... mainly Amnesiac/OKC.

As is with every Radiohead album I've listened to since the Bends, after listening to it a couple of times, I really want to just go run and tell everyone how fucking great it is and share the experience.

Nigel Godrich showed up on the official Radiohead messageboard ealier ago asking where he could download some of the leaked tracks. Less than an hour later, he came back and had this to say:
Its the rough mixes ....
some tracks not even finished.

radiohead has released a message stating that the music currently leaked on the internet was performed and recorded in a closet.  the only instruments available at the time were two salt shakers, a length of  tightened fishing wire and a bottle cap.  the final release is expected to have much higher production values

Radiohead Bassist Slams Internet Leaks

Apr 04, 2003 (WENN via COMTEX) -- LATEST: RADIOHEAD's COLIN GREENWOOD has followed bandmate brother JONNY in slamming the people who leaked their new material on the internet.

Greenwood, who plays bass in the acclaimed band, was furious when he discovered that the tracks posted onto the web were bad quality early mixes that did no justice to completed long player HAIL TO THE THIEF.

He says, "I just wanted to back up what Jonny said. We're all unhappy with the wrong mixes from the wrong songs being stuck up on the net. It's like having your house done over halfway though having it done up.

"All the attention is gratifying, but we want it when all our hard work's done and the best it can be. Until then, this is all just unhelpful noise. Wait until you see the final, real, finished album."

I like how it says they "SLAMMED" the people who leaked it.

It's obvious they were disapointed that they weren't the finished product, but I don't think they were furrious... they seem pretty laid back about the whole situation.

Wolf at the Door, great Dylanesque rap...Punch up at a Wedding, Neil Young groove and vocals, love it....though don't think i believe Radiohead is at all derivative, 2+2 most certainly always equals 5.

also, understanding that the guys in the band are a little miffed, third time in a row their album has been leaked, but in no way does this album sound like a crappy mix, it may be unfinished but it's fucking good.

Wow, Sail to the Moon is amazing.  It's a rare experience for me to listen to a song and hold back tears on first listen but it happened with this song.  Thom's equally eery and beautiful voice flowing over the piano and guitar is just heavenly.  This might not be the final mix but it is by no means shit.  Their production is always super tight.  Suck Young Blood is pretty creepy but I love it.  Punch Up at a Wedding is great too.  I can't wait for the official release.
