What the hell is this actually about?

The trailer makes no sense and that synopsis sounds epically boring. It reads like a scenario out of a textbook, put through google translate.

Meirelles has no sense of humour, that's his problem. All the fun of city of god must be attributed to Katia Lund, while he just got off on the misery.
