Best Director: Paul Thomas Anderson for PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE
THE NOMINEES
Paul Thomas Anderson (Punch-Drunk Love)
Spike Jonze (Adaptation)
Roman Polanski (The Pianist)
Martin Scorsese (Gangs of New York)
Steven Spielberg (Minority Report)
I should have been placing bets on this one. It's not often you find a sure thing that's quite this sure.
One of the best directors working today...he deserves it :-D (Also my personal fav  )
Ok, Polanski made something beautiful with The Pianist, i think he would be my second place, because i agree with XIXAX PTA was the best, well he must be one of the best filmmakers of these years, i can't wait for his next work!
I think Polanski's vision of the Holocaust was brilliant. Understated, minimalist, and sublimely poignant. He is my first choice, followed closely by PTA of course.
Yeah! P.T. Anderson forever! He really deserved it.
On my second place there would be Spike Jonze. "Adaptation" is really great, too.
