•LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) — David Spade, whose Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star topped the box office in its debut this past weekend, will star in an untitled holiday-themed comedy that Columbia Pictures has picked up for studio-based Happy Madison Prods.

The project reunites Spade, Happy Madison producers Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo and Columbia, who worked together on the 2001 feature Joe Dirt. Happy Madison also produced Dickie Roberts, which opened at No. 1 with $6.7 million.

The untitled comedy, which was written by Richard Dargan, Eric Wade and Diane Duarte, centers on Kraig (Spade), the ne'er-do-well son of Santa Claus. When Christmas is threatened by outside forces, Kraig bands together with an oddball elf and a group of underappreciated reindeer to save the holiday and reconcile with his father.
