I think you all take more pride in pop-culture "pat-on back" stuff then actual film discussion....  so I'm getting into the gig with my shovel full of music.  After many years of punk rock... soul jazz rules.  Just give a listen to the 2 Big John Patton albums on Blue Note plus some Jimmy Smith.  As far as contemp stuff.... look towards the dnB rockin stuff of London Elec and the latest Dillinja on Hospital.
