Just stumbled upon this site and figured I should should start getting ridiculed right off the bat.
So: question for y'all. I have heard from 3 sources that worked on PDL that there was a whole deleted storyline that Lena was in fact an alien of all things, sets were built and scrapped, and scenes reshot. I didn't give it much credence, but after seeing moon landings pop up on the tv in the phone sex girl's office and Lena's apartment (during Blossoms and Blood/"Here We Go") I had second thoughts.
Has anyone else heard anything to confirm/deny? Curious.

no, there's some level of truth to it, ptahas said in interviews that he wanted lena to seem like an alien creature, because shes so new to barry's world. as for her actually BEING an alien and having special sets built to show that, i dont know, i dont think so.

Yeah, there are tons of things that hint at it, I dont remember if its this board of the PTA board but there was a topic with tons of info and theories about this, im sure if it still exists Mac could find it.

I'm totally serious, I'm not one for making up bogus rumors and starting nonsense discussions. I heard it from two unrelated people, then got the skinny from a source so close to PTA it's not funny.
Next time you watch the movie, just look for the signs. It's very strange (and quite honestly, I'm glad it didn't happen).

I read somewhere that Lena is really E.T and barry's favorite movie is E.t so at the end they only fall in love because E.T is Barry's favorite movie. This can be found on the commentary on the 2 disc dvd.

Well, I had a night to sleep on it...reread the shooting script, and all of that...and I don't think an alien theme was ever in the works. It just doesn't seem like something he would try. At least not in this particular movie. It would have been too off the wall...

Okay, so I noticed something in Chapter 12. Probably nothing, but it is labeled Alien Abduction:
When Barry drops his trash off, the street is dimly lit. After the truck pulls in and the Brothers grab him, a bright overhead spotlight shines down on them. It stays there even after the truck drives off, then it just quickly tilts up. The same kind of spotlight dances around the 99 cent store sign in the next scene.

from that same scene: watch blossoms and blood. the part where barry looks behind him and says, "99 cents. pudding." that whole shot feels like something out of an alien movie, with the music and the way barry speaks. it adds to these crazy ass conspiracy theories that keep popping up.

The deleted extended scene should've been in the movie. There's some great acting by Adam Sandler who tries to chit chat with the guy closest to the camera, Jim, I presume. Very funny stuff and I guess there was different dialogue as well, if I remember.
I agree. They really should have kept that in...I thought the moment was so Barry, and it just highlighted his passive/aggressive stance to life...I mean, he should have just ripped into the guys, but he was trying to diffuse the situation with pleasentries as he does throughout the film.
i love that part on the second dvd, but i don't think it works within the movie. the brothers just start to beat him up for no reason, it just seems to happen and it doesn't have a flow. the way it is now flows. the whole movie flows now and while i liked all the deleted stuff on the dvd, i think everything is better in the movie.

also notice on Georgia's TV, she is watching something about space travel, and on blossoms and blood so is lena. maybe?
i don't think the alien you are referring to is something separate from the brothers. the light just before barry starts running again seems like something that's there to scare him even more, as if the brothers have the ability to shine this light in places that don't seem possible (i.e. from their car on a street while barry is running in an alley).

i think it's part of the brothers. it could be an alien, but i think that barry's abduction is being compared to an alien one, especially with the play of lights that the brothers have. the spotlight that floats around bears a lot of resemblance to the kind of light the brothers hold, and while i'm not saying that both lights come from the same flashlight, it makes me suspect they both originate from the brothers
