and probably 'volta' and 'because of the times', but so far the year's been kind of standard. no big revelations unless i'm missing something , or getting old.

edit: wow, look how boring those album covers look when put together.

I've liked

THE ALIENS Astronomy for Dogs
BONDE DO ROLE With Lassers
VIEUX FARKA TOURE Vieux Farka Toure
CHEMICAL BROTHERS We Are The Night
DUNGEN Tio Bitar
FEIST The Reminder
OF MONTREAL Hissing Fauna Are you the Destroyer?
BRAZILIAN GIRLS Talk to la Bomb (is this 07? im not sure)
BATTLES Mirrored
DAN DEACON Spiderman of the Rings (not sure about this one either)
BEIRUT Long Gisland EP

A bit let down with Cinematic Orchestra's Ma Fleur...

And maybe is not 97 but I've been listening to plenty of the newest TOM ZE lately and it's all amazing (Estudando o Pagode, Jogos de Armar)...

that's it for now.

this year has been insane for me. so much good stuff. all my favorite artists putting out new albums, plus some artists that are new to me. some good to very good that haven't been mentioned:

still got Okkervil River, New P's, Eisley, possibly Radiohead, Wolf Parade
I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away.

bigideas, what are the first three album covers?

some favorites so far:

1. sister vanilla- little pop rock
2. panda bear- person pitch
3. bill callahan- woke on a whaleheart
4. liars- self titled
5. bjork- volta
6. black rebel motorcycle club- baby 81'
7. patton oswalt- werewolves and lollipops

-new pornographers album seems to be their worst
-the animal collective album was awesome the one and only time i listened to it, bust since it has not been released yet, i did not include it
- the feist album is half good. i either love the songs or i hate them. if its a slow year, it may make it to my list
- the new okkervil river album sounds like it was recorded by a different band, and i think it like it. i have not listened to the whole thing so far

Alexandro

yeah i forgot about them so i gotta add

Volta

LCD soundsystem - sound of silver

and spoon - GA GA GA GA GA

i was also mildly disappointed with the new polyphonic spree's...but maybe with repeated listenings it'll grow...

I'm an AC fan but I never understood why people were fawning all over Person Pitch.

It just got on my nerves.

i liked how he recreated a Pet Sounds-ish quality, but i could definitely do without a lot of the repetition/noise stuff.

and you say you're an Animal Collective fan but you don't like the repetition/noise stuff? Baffling. Just baffling

If that was the only reason people liked Animal Collective, not many people would like them.
