Eh. The story was better, but the songs weren't as enjoyable. Murray's operatics were pretty amazing, though.

'Conchords' online buzz takes off
Season 2 premiere logs 250,000 streams on FunnyOrDie

In an encouraging sign for the upcoming second season of HBO's offbeat comedy "Flight of the Conchords," the premiere episode has raked in some 250,000 streams in its first 10 days on FunnyOrDie.

That is in addition to the tens of thousands of views on HBO.com, which also showcases the season opener.

Not too bad for a show that drew 950,000 viewers for its first-season finale. And way better than the 100,000 views the first season premiere scored on MySpace last year.

The promotional streaming of "Concords" on FunnyOrDie marks the first such collaboration between the pay cable network and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's comedy Web site after HBO took an ownership stake in the Internet venture in June.

Also getting online sampling alongside "Conchords" is another upcoming HBO comedy series, "Eastbound & Down." A trailer for the show, which is exec produced by Ferrell and McKay, runs after the "Conchords" episode.

In addition to earning an instant cult status, "Conchords," starring the New Zealand music-comedy duo of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, has gotten some critical buzz, including landing a spot among the 10 finalists for best comedy series Emmy this year.

You sure that wasn't a 'RENT' parody?

Quirky French director Michel Gondry (The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) teams up with HBO's equally off-kilter series, The Flight of the Conchords, and the resulting episode — "Unnatural Love," which airs February 15 — is pure, unadulterated pleasure.
