Xixax

Friends, film snobs, countrymen, lend me your eyes...

As many of you are aware, a year and a half ago I relinquished control of Xixax to the hands of your faithful board admins and opened up a donation system. I used my company's resources to "float" Xixax at a rate that we typically extend only to low-usage web sites.

3 months ago, my company launched a new initiative to focus more efforts toward our hosting services, and since doing so our hosting has become quite a lucrative source of income for Mad Dancer. Because of this shift, it has caused me to take a look at the usage of our resources, and to become more diligent in policing the "buddy" deals we're offering friends and family.

It occurred to me over Thanksgiving that I hadn't personally been over to Xixax in over a month, and when I dropped by, I noticed that funding for the site (even at our lowest rate) had fallen behind and nobody from the board seemed to care.

In the past when this has happened, about 80% of the time, your admin crew has shelled out the funds to keep Xixax alive. A hand full of exceptions exist (you know who you are - and thank you!), but for the most part, Xixax has been kept alive by the admins here.

The time has come for me to make some decisions about the board and its future. In a nutshell, I personally have lost the passion that caused me to start Xixax to begin with. No longer with time for film, I've lost interest in the art - for at least the time being. Since I'm no longer emotionally attached to the subject matter here, and because Xixax has never been a valid source of income for my firm, I decided to close the doors effective December 31st.

Just as I was announcing my decision to the administrators, it occurred to me that their passion for Xixax that has kept the site afloat for the past 18 months could easily fuel its future if the site were hosted at a "bargain basement" hosting company - one that's not a premium service like the one my company offers. We all have seen ads for $9.95 per month web hosting. That's not what MDM does. We cater to small and mid-sized businesses who live and die by their web sites, and the attention we pay to each customer comes with a price tag. It's like having a Lexus instead of a Ford Escort... We strive to be the Lexus of the web hosting world. The "quantity over quality" web hosting companies that can afford to offer web space for peanuts will be just fine for a site like Xixax - a site that doesn't generate revenue for its owners.

Since Xixax could stand on its own on an el-cheapo hosting platform, I decided to bounce an idea off of the Admins here - which after a little bit of discussion they have chosen to accept.

I am selling Xixax to the board's administrative team.

We deal with web sites similar to Xixax on a daily basis at Mad Dancer Media, and we see price tags from $20,000 to upwards of $50,000 per purchase for sites just like this one. Yes, businesses DO pay that for web communities like this one. Your traffic is what they want, and they are willing to pay for it.  But, I'm not in the business of selling virtual real estate, and I don't have anyone banging my door down to buy the place (I did have an offer last year from someone who balked at my price, but they were only a hobbyist and not a web firm).

So, anyway, I placed a price tag on Xixax and offered it to the admins here - at 4% of what it's probably really worth.

They're buying, I'm selling, and Xixax will be moving to a new web hosting service by January 1, 2007.

I will let the admins elaborate on what this means for the future of the board. I am sure there are already some great ideas in the works. But before they do, let me encourage you that if you enjoy this board, you should think about doing your part to pitch in to keep it running. The admins are going to front the money for the sale, and they'll be turning to you for reimbursement of the purchase price, so if you love Xixax like they do, think about hitting them with a little Christmas cash!

I had a lot of fun here in the early days. Here's to your fun in the future!

Sincerely,
- Michael Wilson

Hi Mike,

Good to hear from you after so long. I understand perfectly your decision, and I'm glad you guys were able to figure everything out already to keep Xixax running. I hope you get your passion for film back soon (it will happen for sure) and you visit us here more often. You've created this place, which became very important for a lot of people, and I'm one of the users that appreciates that a lot.

To the admins, I think I said this before but I have several servers and I have crew (designers, programmers, etc) that work for me full time, so if I can help in any way please let me kow.

Thanks again for everything. I'm sure the admins will continue to do a great job (except Pubrick  :whip:).

Thanks for your support of this community for all these years, Michael. The internet would not be the same without Xixax.

Admins, where can we make donations in the mean time? I'm just a lowly unemployed graduate, so it wont be much but I feel its my duty....and it's Christmas.

Dear Bride of the Atom of the Internet,

I'll help pay for you because you're worth it, thanks for being worthy.
Raven haired Linda and her school mate Linnea are studying after school, when their desires take over and they kiss and strip off their clothes. They take turns fingering and licking one another's trimmed pussies on the desks, then fuck each other to intense orgasms with colorful vibrators.

I guess I know where my Christmas bonus is going.

You see, Xixax, I love you more than Criterion.
We often went to the cinema, the screen would light up and we would tremble, but also, increasingly often, Madeleine and I were disappointed. The images had dated, they jittered, and Marilyn Monroe had gotten terribly old. We were sad, this wasn't the film we had dreamed of, this wasn't the total film that we all carried around inside us, this film that we would have wanted to make, or, more secretly, no doubt, that we would have wanted to live.

We're in the process of setting up where to send that money. But any money would be EXTREMELY helpful and greatly appreciated. So in the mean time, put in a sock somewhere away from sight so it's not spent until we can set up an account somewhere.

The admins aren't planning any changes to the site. It'll still be the same xixax we've all come to know and love. As of now it's just a matter of deciding on a new server. Think of it this way: If xixax were a circus, we are the clowns looking for a new parking lot to set up tent. If xixax were a moblie home, we are the trash looking for a new trailer park. You get the idea.

And leaves us with a teaser...

Whoa... the concept of Xixax not existing really bothers me.  I realise that I don't hang around much anymore... but it's sort of a staple.  Thanks admins, I don't like the idea of being without my friendly neighbourhood xixax.  Cheers to you guys.  Fuckin rights.  :P
Classic.

FRIENDS, XIXAXERS, COUNTRYMEN! Lend Us Your Ears... And Wallets!

The time has come to call on all of you, our fellow members, to ask for your help in helping us Keep Xixax Alive. And your donations are needed to do so. So, please, help us out if you can, and contribute whatever you can, if you can. No donation is too small, nor too big for that matter.  :yabbse-wink: Contrary to the saying, Size Doesn't Matter. So Give; Give until it hurts. And when you realize that there is a fine line between pleasure and pain, give some more. Yes, we know the holidays are just around the corner, but does your dad really need that new tie? Or mom that bottle of vodka and pack of cigs? Instead send them a letter saying: A Donation Was Made In Your Name To The Xixax Relief Fund. They'll be happy knowing that you're not spending your time looking at pictures of Tubgirl, but instead on a film website that is a better way to ruin your brain with people of the same interests from all over the globe.

I know I speak for all the admins when I say, we greatly appreciate whatever you contribute. We, like you, don't want this site to go away. We love being here and sharing ideas, opinions and thoughts with people we would consider friends. We all know this site is like that nicotine fix you just can't, and don't wanna, shake.

And remember, every time you donate a kitten is born, and every time you don't a puppy is killed, so, please, do it for the kitties and the puppies.

17.5% is not that bad, considering its been less than 24 hours since it started.

Unless everyone else who saw this will not donate anyways  :ponder:
