Title: FCP and Magic Bullet Question and NOW TUTORIALS!!!
Post by: Neil on April 07, 2011, 11:03:09 AM
So I have a bootlegged version of FCP and I was wondering if I d/l the trial version of Magic Bullet, will cause any problems?  I think i found a serial for the Magic Bullet, but i don't want to install it if it's going to fuck up my FCP

I tried installing Magic Bullet with my airport turned off, but it said I needed to be connected to do it, but I was afraid to.

So, my question is, do you think downloading this magic bullet plugin will cause a problem with my Final Cut Pro

I don't think this will solve your problem, but you should know about it:

And yes, if you want to pirate Little Snitch, you can use Little Snitch to block Little Snitch from making connections.

baaad idea to block little snitch with little snitch. it locked me into demo mode and i had to appzap it. better to just steal a SN or buy it. also, the trial of the magic bullet suite is watermarked (useless)

finally, if you're running FCP 6, make sure you have the appropriate version of Magic Bullet. i had some trouble with mine when i upgraded from 5 to 6... or maybe it was during my upgrade to snow leopard from leopard.

Well, I did both... found a serial (which worked), then when Little Snitch wanted to phone home, blocked it. Who knows, it may have been doing something benign.

In any case, I should have just bought it, because it's by far one of my favorite apps.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Little Snitch pre-configures a setting for itself to allow any connections. You can go in and change it. I think I have that right... it's been a while.

Rather than trying to install the demo, you're probably better off tracking down a copy of the full Magic Bullet with a crack or keygen.  And I don't have a clue how Macs work, but whatever you do to tell it not to connect to the internet, do that.

If you're going for the 'free' route try nattress plugins...

Or just rock the three way color correct.  I've found that Magic Bullet looks are a lil too abrasive and easily abused.

^^^I agree 100%, but i'm more using it as a template for the 3 way color correct.

Ok, so here's the update.  The demo successfully installed, but now when i apply it to a clip is just goes black, the whole screen.

Any tips on why this would be the case?

I used the same setup, FCP 7 with Looks (bootlegged) worked like a charm. Just don't update your OS because it will void FCP and you'll have reinstall with a different cd key.

Rather than making a new thread and such, I thought I'd ask here;

What are some tutorial websites that you find useful?

I'm specifically looking for color correction tutorials, but any would be helpful.  I'm familiar with video co-pilot and also final cut king, but that's really as far as i've gotten so far.

Thanks.

Oh yeah:  Free ones are always appreciated, I'm trying to cut out the thievery.

I spend a lot of time looking for all types of tutorials. I don't come across many video color correction tutorials.

Red Giant TV at vimeo has some color correction tutorials but they're using Magic Bullet plug-ins. You could also check vimeo school for some free tutorials.

CG Persia is a thievery site but the message board is full of tutorials. You could check it out or post there and I'm sure they can give info on everything you're looking for.

I learned the most about color correction when I started fucking with lightroom.
