Question: What do you think of ZWAN?
What do you think?
My one problem with Zwan (and correct me if I'm wrong here): didn't Billy Corgan say the pumpkins broke up because he was unhappy with the state of music and that everything was turning pop? Well from what I've heard aren't Zwan's lyrics a little, erm, pop?
the Zwan CD is very very very very sugary
But I know that's not all they can do, so for future potential I choose "good"
They're merely good. Very good at times. But never great. I saw them in Atlanta, GA. It was a very fun show. Obviously they don't rise to the artistic heights of the Pumpkins, but I don't think that's what Billy is trying to do anymore. I think he's just trying to have fun now.
Far better live than on Mary Star of the Sea.
Billy needs to hand their second album over to Pajo and Sweeney. They need to write songs, sing them, contribute more, be more present; until that happens, Zwan will always be "Smashing Pumpkins II: The Happy Era."

Very true, but from the time the Pumpkins disbanded to the time Zwan came together, Billy changed a lot. He has finally found some faith in something and now he is contributing what he feels to the music industry.
"Here comes my faith to carry me on."
"I declare myself of faith."
"What I want you can't fucking kill."
He has definately found something, and I love it.
smashing pumpkins r one of my favorite bands of all time, and the first time i herd zwan i really hated it, mialy cause i was just expecting another pumpkins album, so it reely put me off. but now that ive given zwan another try i think thier really fantastic, not the pumpkins, but who will ever be, but definetly some great songs--- i love of a broken heart.
My problem with this band is that Billy Corgan sings for it.
Corgan's a cock... Reason I could never get into the Pumpkins is his whiney pretentious ass wheezing out lyrics. They had some great songs that the music made up for the vocals, but so far, this Zwan is nothing new... after hearing about how Corgan was breaking barriers of rock, it's kind of funny... but yeah, he sings, so it sucks.
The complaint about Corgan's voice is one of the main reasons some folks don't like the Pumpkins. His voice is an acquired taste, like Vanilla Coke. You either love it or you hate it. And if you love it, then you REALLY love it.
good.
Oh snap!
fiddlesticks!
After hearing this statement, 98% percent of America said "Wait... The Smashing Pumpkins broke up?"
Damnit. I wanted them to release their harsher stuff
I'm sad that Zwan broke up, but I'm glad that Billy will finally do a solo album. I think it could be great.
Hasn't Billy had the overwhelming control over both SP and Zwan?
And if so, what the fuck does "Billy is going solo" really mean?
Just curious.

I was wondering that too.
How about...
Will Billy's backup band for his solo career also have a female bassist and Asian guitarist (and Jimmy C)?
It's for the best. Time for Billy Corgan's solo career.
Quote from: European SonTime for Billy Corgan's solo career.
Billy Corgan Steps Out Billboard has informed Brachman.com that former Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan leader Billy Corgan has begun work on his solo debut, as confirmed by posts by the multi-talented Corgan on his own official Web site.
"I am excited to work on this music, because for the first time in my life it will be my tunes with no compromises to anyone or anything," he writes.
"It's gonna be loud and beautiful and poetic and dumb. Just the way I like it."
While Corgan will be guiding the project, he alluded to participation from other artists. "I come in with no songs but maybe one or two, no lyrics, no band (but a few Santa's helpers lined up) and no dairy," he said.
Perhaps in reference to long-standing rumors that he erased the studio work of his Smashing Pumpkins bandmates in favor of re-recording their parts himself, he said, "some would argue that it's not my first [solo album], and I wouldn't argue with you there."
on his site ( www.billycorgan.com ) it has a "just kidding" in parantheses after the part about it not being his first. Great av by the way, Mac.
It seems he's all of a sudden turned into a Jesus freak... hrm... I don' t think I could handle more than what was on the Zwan album.
Sucks to be you

....what s wrong with him showing respect for Jesus?.......nnot to drag this into a reigious thing ..but when you say something like that i innterpret it as........
"It seems all of a sudden he loves Jesus....Thats not right"........
i donn't know just wonndering what s up.......?

HAHAHA
To me his love for wrestling is much weirder than his love for god.
I didn't know the www.billycorgan.com website, it's pretty fuckin cool. It looks like some amateur blog, only by fuckin Billy Corgan.
SP was the the true Corgan and Zwan was just a little between time that did not work for me. Now I am loathing the solo info....... :(

he's been writing his "confessions" online for about a month or so. he seems to miss his old band. but i doubt a reunion will be happen.

What, like the rest of his band has anything better going on? Hehe..
saw solo Corgan tonite in NYC. it was cool, but you know..... no Smashing Pumpkins. hell, it wasn't even Zwan, though i never go to see them live. it is the weirdest thing to, on the day of your solo release announce you want to reform your old band. almost like a surrender before a battle. oh well. the show was pretty cool. funny how he always has 1 girl in the band. the album grew on me since i didnt really care for it at first. now i really like Mina Loy, The Camera Eye and Walking Shade.
I haven't picked up the new album yet, but I've found myself listening to the entire Pumpkins catalog lately and really hoping that planned reunion goes through (it's funny that he was downplaying the possibility all the way up until last Tuesday - and then he takes out a full-page ad saying that it will happen).
I bought this album today. It sort of fills the same place for me that the new NIN album did...namely, pleasant nostalgia. This isn't as good as the NIN album, though. Maybe it has subtle depths I'm not penetrating yet, but it ain't no Adore (its most obvious precedent) and the most interesting thing about it is Billy Corgan's embrace of his birthmark in the liner notes, which I remember he used to stridently cover up.
"It's official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. No release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer."

It's official, this album will suck ass.
it's official, billy corgan is a woman.
The Smashing Pumpkins have entered a recording studio with producer Roy Thomas Baker, according to a post on the band's Web site. Baker produced Queen's A Night at the Opera, which included their classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," and also has the Cars, Journey and Cheap Trick on his lengthy résumé. The band announced in April that it had reunited, though Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin are the only members who have been confirmed for the comeback so far.
