WHAT TYPE OF FILM SHOULD PTA DO NEXT?

I'd have to say my FIRST choice would be a horror movie for him.  The genre has been in steady decline since the late 80s, and if anyone can rescue it it would be Paul.  We really need an antidote to this modern, PG-13, zero gore, Dawson's Creek-meets-Scream style horror movie that's currently being churned out in Hollywood.

I dream of a PTA horror movie...it would be like John Carpenter, but good.  Widescreen, shocking, totally unexpected.  It would be surreal and mulitfaceted.

I mean, some of the more shocking moments in PDL (window smash, car crashes, etc.) are already verging on horror.  I think it would be great to take that even further.  Some sort of multi-character tale of the supernateral or something...

Other than that, I don't know about a musical...but I would definitely see it if he made one.

No matter what he makes it would still be a PTA picture, regardless, so...

What about 28 Days Later and Cabin Fever?

I think it would be neat if PTA made a good movie this time.

A moody, atmospheric thriller along the lines of Rosemary's Baby.
It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.

Quote from: BrainSushiWhat he needs to do is Boogie Nights 0.5... er, Boogie Days. It's the prequel to Boogie Nights, telling of a young filmmaker named Jack Horner and his dream to make the great American porno. When he's working in a club, he's discovered by a middle-aged money bag named the Colonel James and... well, I guess you know the score.

Younger versions of most of the BN characters (ie, the discovery of Buck, Amber, and Reed, and a young Peurto Rican immigrant with the dreams of starting a club, etc.) No Dirk or Rollergirl in this one though.

I like this idea!

I want to see his spin on a pyshological horror film badly...

What would it be about?

It's anyone's bet, PTA always surprises us...but I'm sure Phillip Baker Hall, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, and/or Shaq would be in it.
